| | THE DUNES GOLF AND BEACH CLUB NAMED ONE OF “BEST CLASSIC COURSES” BY GOLFWEEK MAGAZINE
Highly-Acclaimed Robert Trent Jones Sr. Course Also Named One of the Top Resort Facilities
April 2, 2009, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The Dunes Golf and Beach Club has been named one of Golfweek Magazine’s “Best Classic Courses” in its annual “Golfweek’s Best” rankings, published in the March 14th issue. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and opened for play on October 22, 1949, The Dunes Golf and Beach Club is ranked No. 94 in 2009, and is one of only two South Carolina courses to make the prestigious list.
Named to Golfweek’s inaugural list of “Best Classic Courses” in 1997, The Dunes Club has been ranked each year and is the only Myrtle Beach area course to be named among the top 100 each year. Golfweek defines a classic course as being built prior to 1960, and rates courses based on criteria that includes the ease and intimacy of routing, integrity of design, quality of feature shaping, natural setting and overall land planning among other categories.
The Dunes Club also debuted onto Golfweek’s Best Resort Courses” ranking in 2009 at No. 21. Using the same criteria for the rating the course as with the classic and modern courses, Golfweek defines a resort course as one that is open to the public as long as they stay at partner property.
“We have truly made a commitment to be one of the most admired courses in the nation,” Dennis Nicholl, The Dunes Club’s head golf professional. “Robert Trent Jones’ genius ingenuity has really made this course stand the test of time and continue to flourish. It is an honor to be recognized by Golfweek Magazine as one of America’s best classic and resort courses.”

| | TEAM OF DR. FRANK SLOAN AND DR. GARNETT RAMSBOTTOM CAPTURE THE 2008 DUNES GOLF AND BEACH CLUB MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT
The team of Dr. Frank Sloan and Dr. Garnett Ramsbottom captured the 2008 Dunes Club Memorial Golf Tournament on November 15th. The doctors finished the 18-hole Chapman Scotch, or modified alternate shot, format with a total score of 66. Second place went to the husband and wife team of Nils and Mihoko Winther who finished in a tie with Dr. Jay Merritt and Joe Morrison at 67, but secured the second-place finish in a scorecard playoff. Fourth place went to the team of Neil McCoy and Dean Demattio. McCoy, who looked a little too comfortable in his Scottish attire, also won the closest-to-the-pin on hole #17. Twenty-year-old Lucas Rice, playing with his father as a partner, knocked it close on hole #9 for the closest-to-the-pin award on the front nine.
The annual Dunes Club Memorial Tournament is open to all golfing members of The Dunes Club and pairs any combination of two golfers together for the day of competition and fellowship. For the 2008 event, golfers were outfitted in traditional Scottish golf attire with the dress code calling for knickers (also known as plus fours), shirts and ties for the men with women wearing knickers or golf dresses.
The event honors past Dunes Club golfing members who have passed away in recent years. The four honorees honored in 2008 included Major General James Franklin Hackler, Jr., Mr. Houston Brisson, Mr. Clyde Port and Mr. Jack Springs, Sr. The goal of the Memorial Tournament was to remember those members through great fellowship, fond memories and sensational stories of all of their accomplishments during their lives.
"Saturday's Memorial Tournament was a great day at the club," said Dennis Nicholl, Head Golf Professional at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club. "Not only was it fun to see the members dressed as golfers from a previous era but we had the opportunity to pay our respect to four former members who had meant so much to everyone at the Dunes Golf & Beach Club."

| | LEA ANNE BROWN CAPTURES SECOND CONSECUTIVE CAROLYN CUDONE INVITATIONAL AT THE DUNES GOLF AND BEACH CLUB
November 12, 2008, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Lea Anne Brown of Mount Pleasant, S.C. shot a seven-over-par 79 to capture the 2008 Carolyn Cudone Invitational on November 11th at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Brown successfully defended her 2007 title with a three-stroke win over second-place finishers Jeannette Godwin of Pawleys Island, Karen Zeip of Myrtle Beach and Ellen Miller of Murrells Inlet. Dianne Belair of Myrtle Beach was fifth in the 40-player event with an 83.
Held annually at the Dunes Club, the 18-hole stroke play tournament honors two of the most successful women’s amateur golfers in the history of the Women’s South Carolinas Golf Association, Carolyn Cudone and Vicki Hillen. All proceeds from the tournament benefit the Vicki Hillen Junior Golf Foundation.
Cudone, a long-time Dunes Club member, was elected to the South Carolina Golf Hall of Fame in 1979 after captaining the United States Curtis Cup team, stringing together five consecutive U.S. Women’s Senior Amateur Championships from 1968-78 and capturing the South Carolina Women’s Amateur title a record seven times.
Hillen, a Murrell’s Inlet resident who died in 2005 at the age of 48 after battling cancer, won the South Carolina Women’s Amateur championship five times, second to Cudone’s record of seven titles. She was inducted into the South Carolina Golf Hall of Fame posthumously in 1996.
"It’s an honor to have my name on the Carolyn Cudone trophy,” said Brown. “I met Mrs. Cudone at last year’s event and was a friend and frequent competitor of Vicki Hillen. I would love to come close to even half of what these two ladies did for the game of golf.”
“We congratulate Lea Anne Brown for winning her second Carolyn Cudone Championship this year,” said Dennis Nicholl, head golf professional at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club. “This tournament has quickly become one of our favorites every year as we honor Mrs. Cudone for everything she did to inspire junior golfers and women golfers and help raise money for the Vicki Hillen Junior Golf Foundation, named for a Grand Strand resident and one of the best amateur golfers ever in South Carolina.”

Over Labor Day weekend, 3600 golf facilities around the nation participated in Patriot Golf Day. Over $1.4 million dollars was raised to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation which provides scholarships to families of those who have become disabled or lost their lives in the line of duty.
"As a PGA Professional and proud American, I am blessed to have the freedom and fortune to be associated with such a fine golf club and to have the privilege to service a number of decorated members who have served in the military and fought for our country. I felt giving back, no matter how large or small the contribution, was the least we could do to help those families who made the ultimate sacrifice," stated Head Golf Professional Dennis Nicholl
Donations were accepted throughout the weekend and forwarded to this worthy cause.

| | Dunes Hosts Women's Carolinas-Virginias Team Matches - by Dennis Nicholl | | |
| | The Dunes Club hosted yet another major golf event July 21-23 by welcoming the best women amateur players from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. The 48 players competed over three days in a two-person team format representing the Carolinas and the Virginias. Team Virginias got off to a hot start and posted a 9-point lead after day one. This gap proved too large for the Carolinas to overcome and Team Virginias secured the 2008 title. Although the weather was a bit warm, the course was in excellent condition and the play from these amateurs was even better. Congratulations to Team Virginias! | | |

| | THE DUNES GOLF AND BEACH CLUB FEATURED ON JULY 1ST EPISODE OF ROAD TRIP: MYRTLE BEACH
GOLF CHANNEL’S Reality Show to Feature Visit to One of “America’s Top 100 Courses”
June 30, 2008, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The Dunes Golf and Beach Club will be featured in the Tuesday, July 1st episode of Road Trip: Myrtle Beach, the GOLF CHANNEL reality show featuring ESPN commentator Charlie Rymer, musicians Mark Bryan and Josh Kelley and Duramed FUTURES TOUR player Perry Swenson during the ultimate Myrtle Beach golf experience.
The 12-episode series follows the foursome as they play a different Grand Strand course each week with light-hearted banter between cast members, course information and videos, game management tips and golf instruction by Rymer, after-golf activities at area restaurants and night spots and live, original music.
The first four episodes of Road Trip: Myrtle Beach premiered in April and the next four shows make their debut with the Tuesday, July 1st episode in which the cast comes to perennial “Top 100” course, The Dunes Club, for a round of golf. Road Trip: Myrtle Beach will showcase The Dunes Club’s well-known Alligator Alley, holes No. 11 – 13, with the Alley’s resident alligators making special guest appearances while sunning by Lake Singleton and the Singleton Swash.
The episode will also feature an interview with head golf professional Dennis Nicholl who visits with Charlie Rymer, from the top deck of the club’s pool overlooking the ocean, about the history of The Dunes Club and the golf tournaments and events that have been held there in the past.
“Road Trip: Myrtle Beach will provide great exposure for The Dunes Club while educating the golf world on the rich history of the club, the timeless design of the course and this magnificent piece of property overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, said Nicholl. “The whole cast was great and I was really impressed with Josh Kelley’s swing as he killed the ball off some of the tee boxes. He also provided the comic between takes as he was constantly joking around, singing songs and playing the guitar. It would be almost as entertaining to just watch the outtakes instead of the real show. Although Perry Swenson is the only female in the bunch, she holds her own both on the golf course and joking around with the guys.”

| | Dunes Club Celebrates 60 Years - by Dennis Nicholl | | |
| | THE DUNES GOLF AND BEACH CLUB CELEBRATES 60 YEARS AS ONE OF AMERICA’S GREATEST GOLF COURSES
October 29 Marks Date of Initial Organizational Meeting to Build the Myrtle Beach Golf Course
October 25, 2007, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The Dunes Golf and Beach Club will celebrate its 60th anniversary as one of the United States’ most renowned golf courses on Monday, October 29th. On that fall day back in 1947, a group of prominent Myrtle Beach area business leaders gathered at Chapin’s Cabin, a small building formerly located on the property near what is now the 11th tee, in the first of several organizational meetings to discuss the formation of a corporation to build the area’s second golf course (Pine Lakes International Club, 1944).
After selecting Robert Trent Jones to steer the design, course construction began in the spring of 1948 with 18 months of arduous construction required due to the course’s proximity to the ocean. The Dunes Golf and Beach Club opened the first nine holes for play on October 22, 1949, followed by the second nine holes in December of 1950. The Club was the first Myrtle Beach area golf course to feature views of the Atlantic Ocean.
Since opening, The Dunes Club has developed into one of the area’s most exclusive golf clubs with more than 650 social and golf members. Tee times are reserved for the members with the remaining times open to guests of the Club’s hotel and resort accommodation providers. The Dunes Club has been a consensus “Top 100 Course” selection, according to Golf Digest, GOLF Magazine and Golfweek. “Waterloo,” the famed 13th hole, was selected by Sports Illustrated as one of the “Best 18 Holes in America.”
The Dunes Club has hosted many professional and amateur golf tournaments during the last six decades. The Dunes Club played host to the finals of the 1973 PGA Tour Qualifying School, the 1962 USGA Women’s Open Championship, the 1960 Southern Golf Association Championship and Senior Championship, the 1957 South Carolina Women’s Amateur and the 1953 Carolinas Golf Association Championship. The PGA Senior Tour Championship began its six-year run at The Dunes Club in November 1994. The first Golf Writers Association of America held its initial tournament at The Dunes Club in 1954 with the event held at the club each year through 2005. For 17 years, The Dunes Club has served as the host site of the championship round of the World Amateur Handicap Championship, the world’s largest amateur golf tournament.
“The Myrtle Beach area has changed considerably since that 1947 meeting but Robert Trent Jones’ masterpiece continues to improve with age,” said Dennis Nicholl, Dunes Club head golf professional. “We’re excited to celebrate this anniversary and look forward to hosting golfers for an additional 60 more years.”

| | KAREN FERREE OF HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C., CAPTURES 2007 WOMEN’S SOUTH CAROLINA GOLF ASSOCIATION SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
25th Annual Women’s South Carolina Golf Association (WSCGA) Tournament Held At The Dunes Golf And Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C. , May 22-23, 2007
June 1, 2007, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Karen Ferree, of Hilton Head Island, S.C., captured the 2007 Women’s South Carolina Golf Association (WSCGA) Senior Championship with a two-day score of 152 (77-75). The annual 36-hole stroke play tournament was held May 22 – 23 at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C., with a full field of 100 amateur golfers from across the state competing. This was the second WSCGA Senior Championship to be held at The Dunes Club (also in 1962).
With the victory, Ferree, a 1-handicap golfer, recorded her fourth WSCGA Senior Championships since 2001. Helen Aitken, of Hilton Head Island, and former Dunes Club member Susan Harden, now a resident of Beaufort, tied for second place with Aitken capturing the runner-up honors in a one-hole playoff.
“Crowning our Senior Champion at a golf course as prestigious as The Dunes Golf & Beach Club, made the 2007 Tournament one of our most special,” said Inez Long, WSCGA tournament director. “The ladies enjoyed playing The Dunes Club, even thought the difficulty of the course led to higher-than-normal scores. The WSCGA would like to thank the staff of The Dunes Club for hosting such a well-organized tournament.”
”It was a fantastic tournament,” said Ferree. “We battled adverse conditions as an unexpected nor’easter made it an extremely windy day. I’m honored to have won the 2007 Senior Championship at a great ‘Top 100’ course like The Dunes Club.”
The Dunes Club had several members compete in the Senior Championship, including Barbara Williams, Mary Campbell and Betty Christopher who finished second, third and fourth in the fifth flight, respectively.
“Congratulations to Karen Ferre and all of the flight winners who participated in the 2007 Women’s South Carolina Golf Association Senior Championship,” said Dennis Nicholl, Dunes Club head golf professional. “It was an honor to host the event and watch such fierce competition among the golfers. It was great to see our members do well in their flights and to see former Dunes Club member Susan Harden battle for the title.”
The Senior Championship is a two-day stroke play tournament for WSCGA members aged 50 years and older. A non-profit organization founded in 1949, the WSCGA is made up of local Women's Golf Associations throughout the state. Membership has grown from the original 10 clubs to over 150 member associations with more than 14,000 women golfers receiving WSCGA handicaps. Recognized throughout the United States as one of the premiere Women's Golf Associations in the country, WSCGA acts as an arm of the USGA in upholding traditions, policies, and high values in regard to the game of golf.

Since its inception, it has proved to be a world class course, offering the best in golf and service. It was the host to the prestigious Energizer Senior Tour Championship for 1994-1999. The Robert Trent Jones course has been named one of the nation’s “Top 100 Courses” by Golf Magazine, Golf Digest, Golfweek and Golfstyles Carolina and the famed 13th hole has been selected by Golf Digest as one of the “Best 18 Holes in America.” The Dunes Golf and Beach Club, the premier golf course in Myrtle Beach, is located at 9000 North Ocean Boulevard.
